I understand Gerald bypassed Wrexham again today, due to problems etc, and was rerouted via Crewe 30 minutes late. A similar problem occurred last month when the DVT failed at Chester.
Should this happen again, how long might it take for the 67 to run round the train so it could stick to the original route? Or would the passengers from Wrexham be able to take a different service south and connect at Shrewsbury?

Before Gerald took a busy Wrexham/Birmingham trains path, the few passengers from Wrexham to Cardiff caught Gerald at Shrewsbury, If I recall, travelling on the Birmingham train. No doubt Gerald uses Chesters platform three, just in case of DVT problems, if it used two like most DMUs,it would be landlocked if problems occured. Interesting case about DVT wheel lock in this weeks North Wales Rail website.

As the train with Driving Van Trailer 82307 on the rear passed Rhyl's starter signal and Roly High's camera, the sound of a 'wheel flat' could be heard. We understand that under certain conditions the brakes on one or more axles on a DVT can lock, with no way that the driver in the loco can tell that it is happening.
