GER B12 4-6-0's

Hi all,
I have a couple of old Triang's B12's (61572), that with a number of donor parts are now back up and running. These locos when first issued came with a crew, but as with many such models the crews have long since gone walkabout...(no offence btw, only said in modelling jest !).
However, have now acquired examples of the crew that came with the original locos, but to my shame, have realised I don't know if B12's were left or right hand drive? If the Triang model is to be believed, it would appear the regulator was designed for dual control, as in both LH and RH control, as the driver saw fit as required. My question: Was there an expected norm for drivers using B12s, or was it left to them on a random basis?
