They're only appointed to these otherwise useless jobs because holding said job disqualifies you from becoming an MP as it is an "office of profit under the Crown". To become an MP again Farage would therefore have to resign to be eligible. Given the job has no responsibilities it is a distinction that only has to be made in such circumstances as these.
