Wow that was quick. Yes it was. Your t urn to kick off.
Thank you! On googling, I see it was actually 2 days before the final.......a final which, of course, featured the most famous two goal hat-trick of all time! ;) (Us Scots just can't resist......!)

Another football one......

In autumn 1979, Dougie Wilkie, a promising midfield player, was transferred from Queens Park to Dundee United, but he never played a game for the Tannadice club. Why not?

He broke his leg arriving at his new club on the first day?

He was involved in the Invergowrie rail crash.
Think that's the right answer, but just before that, he'd been sidelined due to needing a knee cartilage operation, the knee injury having been occasioned whilst still a Queen's Park player.

That's right - the unfortunate Mr Wilkie was paralysed from the waist down in the Invergowrie crash. I'm pleased to say he went on to have a good career as a coach and chief scout. He is still alive, aged 69.

@Peterthegreat was first with the answer, (although impressive added detail by @Mcr Warrior !) so over to you next

The current adverts for All Clear travel insurance feature a woman who has not only Pop music credentials but also a railway connection. Who is she? Bonus points for the pop and railway connections.
