I think that is a straw! This company made cars independently from 1896 to 1930, then were taken over or merged with another with a better known name, but the brand lasted with some badge engineering until 1955/6.

That's the one. Produced a car with front disc brakes in 1902! The history was a bit more complicated - Daimler had been taken over by BSA in 1910. In 1930 BSA bought Lanchester, which was virtually broke as a result of the Great Depression, closed their factory and transferred production to Daimler. Lanchester cars were produced sporadically, some badge engineered BSAs and Daimlers, some with a bit more independent engineering, until about 1955. Daimler was acquired by Jaguar in 1960. The 1902 disc brakes were made of brass so weren't a success!
