Ha! Inventive, but not correct, as I suspect will be no surprise to you.
Looks like we might not have any classical music enthusiasts here, but I'll give it another little while before giving Alexander's surname and declaring open floor.
He died in 1977, but his father, his two sons and two of his grandchildren were/are also composers.
One of his other sons, Serge, was an electronic music pioneer and co-created an early modular synthesiser, later used by Tangerine Dream amongst others, which, when initially produced, were known by his surname, before later becoming Serge Synthesisers
No, not beginning with Tch and if dying in 1977.......

Alexander Tcherepnin was his name, and it was his piano concerto No 1 Op.12 that John Barry took the theme from.
His son Serge seems a very interesting bloke....

Basically, it is an electronic circuit that changes an analogue signal (even fairly noisy/dirty ones) into a nice non-noisy Square Wave signal.
