Being an old fogey who remembers events long ago far better than recent events, the Daily Mirror had a noted sports journalist who died in 1981 (when I was 36 years of age) who had a saying attached to his name. The very same newspaper also carried a column called "Live Letters, conducted by the Old Codgers"

After a good night's sleep, the name of Peter Taylor suddenly came to mind.
