Neither of the above, I'm afraid. (One of my favourite light-fiction series, has as hero a 12th-century Benedictine monk, Welsh but dwelling in an abbey in England: who is "in his spare time", a "detective before detectives were invented"; but the Benedictine order originated in Italy.)

Well, you have most of it. What he did was "he married the girl with the strawberry curls".

One of the 1892 period songs that were very popular.. One of my twin sons made the comment that what is general knowledge to me at 79 might be different to someone aged 25.
