Unfortunately neither is correct with regards to the one that I had chosen. The desert is a very large one.

Not so. The desert in question is many miles removed from Kazakhstan.

HINT....The antelope in question is the only one of its species, has unusual horns and 29 pairs of chromosomes.

That antelope has long straight horns which is very different to the antelope in question. I have already given a hint about the horns (and the pairs of chromosomes).

The original question didn't mention the shape of the horns nor did it mention chromosomes, you're moving the goalposts to cover the fact that you didn't know that more than one species of antelope live in deserts.

Very soon, after the start, I did make a "HINT" posting.....but it seems that i have caused offence, something which grieves me full sore...
I can assure you that I am aware of other antelopes that live in deserts, despite your belief that I do not have that knowledge....and committed your thought in print for all to see.
Therefore to put an end to the discord, the antelope in question is an Addax, which lives in the Sahara desert. Try to find a picture of one and you will see what the horns look like
I will take a sabbatical away from this quiz and let normal service be resumed......Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

I also think you should keep on posting in this quiz. We all make occasional slip-ups, especially as we get older, but your range of knowledge is very impressive and your contributions here are very much valued. I will consider a change of mind and am most heartened by recent postings. With regards to Arabian Oryx, the definition posted did state that its area was not solely desert as is the case with the Addax, but also steppe, so that was not a solely desert dwelling species.
What did somewhat disconcert me was the suggestion put in print for all to see that called into question my knowledge of the antelope species.
Since I have already given then answer to my conundrum, that will leave the status quo as "Open Floor".

I'm assuming this is a minor trophy, so I will guess the FA Vase. As to who he was, not got a clue there.

The original name for the one that I had in mind was the EFL Cup, also known as the League Cup, and currently bearing the name of something totally non-British. Joe Richards held the position of President of the Football League at the time of the trophy that has three handles being discussed and Joe Richards personally paid for the cup (and had his name engraved upon it!!!).
