The only island I can think of in that location is the one that translates as Big Island, Island Grande or something like. But this is shared by Chile and Argentina so not at all convinced by my answer.
Maybe it is one of the smaller islands off the coast of this one, but I have three parts of no idea as to what it might be called.

I will give some information. The indigenous people have lived on this island for 10,000 years and archeological investigations have revealed the remains of hut middens in the lowland terraces. The island was given its name by a visiting European vessel after a battle that had been fought in Europe during the War of Greek Independance.

Since all my family were all aware of this, I thought this TWO-PART conundrum was in general knowledge being an island visited by HMS Beagle on its voyages, but since it appears not to be so....

The island in question is Navarino Island

General Knowledge surely just means that the question can be on any topic as opposed to if if it was a quiz on say FA Cup Finals.
Yes the question asked may be tough but also if it is about a topic you have no knowledge of then any question would be tough.
Of course there are questions that would be unfair, such as what was my families coop number, but outwith that sort of question surely anything else is legitimate.

I concur here. There are a fairish number of topics, questions about which are frequently asked on this branch of this sub-forum, and about which I know little or nothing -- on this whole scene, different ones of us will have different strengths and weaknesses.

I agree, it's these obscure questions that are often the most educational.

Exactly

And writing quizzes is difficult too! Half the time I think “nobody will have a clue” and the other half I think “hmmmm this is a doddle”.

This led to the Engraving Copyright Act of 1734, which initially protected only original works but was later extended to all works. It was later repealed and replaced by the Copyright Act of 1911.
