The actual answer is that it was decided that Pansy wasn't a suitable name for a warship so before completion it was renamed HMS Heartsease.

Would have thought that the more interesting answer was that the vessel was eventually sold into civilian service after WW2, and after various name changes, it apparently got sunk by the Indonesian Air Force in 1958 after having been involved in smuggling.

It was indeed biu not of conventional design, there's one in the Science Museum.
As for when one last flew - 1940s?

It was a series of what were effectively an early take on a flying wing (though with a fuselage below)
The Pterodactyl I flew in 1925, and the last model the Pterodactyl V in 1935.
