Tesco is TES from T E Stockwell and CO from the founder, Jack Cohen. Not sure about the validity of TE Stockwell & Co - don't recall it from any histories of the company. That might be my memory at fault, or it could be a company name made up to give bit of historical atmosphere to their cashew nuts.

It was indeed during the reign of Henry V that the relevant Act of Parliament that introduced this was passed.
However, it was not money related.

Tesco takes the TES from TE Stockwell and the CO from Jack Cohen (who was also used for the Jack’s brand more recently)

The modern "Stockwell & Co" brand is simply a rebranding of the "pantry essentials (sic - from Tesco's website)" sold under the brand Tesco Value and later Tesco Everyday Value. There are equivalents for things other than "pantry essentials" as well: The Growers' Harvest for fresh produce, Ms Mollys for confectionery and baking products, Springforce for bathroom products and household cleaning supplies, The Hearty Food Co for ready meals and pre-prepared ingredients, and several more, all of which are listed at https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/zone/exclusively-at-tesco
Sainsbury's have started to do the same thing - for example, their cheapest own-brand chocolate used to be sold as "Sainsbury's Basics" but is now "Lovetts Family Favourites".
Of course, making up brands for specific product categories is nothing new to the industry - it's a practice taken from the German discounters (Aldi, Lidl, Netto)

According to the ever reliable Mr W Pedia Ihe earliest reference to these documents is found in the Safe Conducts Act 1414.
They were still individually signed by the monarch until 1685 and the first photo appeared in 1914.
The "colourful" history refers to the changes changes in the cover colour since the booklet type was introduced in 1921.

That will be the Kennedy memorial at Runnymede.
I always thought it an odd place to site a memorial paid for by amaerican lawyers.
EDIT - no it isnt Kennedy was still alive then! Sure something funded by the American Bar Association is at Runnymede. Unless it's the USAAF memeorial there?
