Are their initials also acronyms? Some are also IATA airline codes?
From the clues given it appears to be something to do with the first letters of their surnames:
I bet Hamilton enjoyed a nice meat (ham) sandwich
I'm not name dropping but Jolyon Palmer is a friend (pal)
Good job I'm giving one clue PER (Perez) day
but my pet has been poorly - needs the Vet(tel)
Not cucumber...But(ton)...oo there's a cryptic clue indeed
That's as far as I've got, does it help anyone?

Who knew RAI is a style of music fusing Arabic and Algerian folk elements with Western rock? Probably most of you actually come to think of it; you're clever bods on here
Well I don't know who to give it to. Dale cracked one part and you another. You're both on the podium so decide between you who sprays the champagne first.
However if you follow the link you find that is a truncated version of the full text:weh. (yä′wā, -wĕ) also Yah·veh (-vā, -vĕ) or Jah·veh (yä′vā, -vĕ) or Jah·weh (yä′wā, -wĕ) n. A name for God thought to represent the original pronunciation of the Tetragrammaton among the ancient Hebrews.

In the early 70's film versions of many popular British tv series were made. Some were good- Sweeney, Steptoe & Son, Porridge etc and some were awful Are you being served? being right up there!
They often made very good box office sales during a period when cinemas were very run down and were losing audiences.
Which set of very British circumstances made them such a box office success?
Television shut at 10:30 p.m. each night, and most pubs were closed.
