They were talking about this on the radio the other day and I can't totally remember but it was something like:
"That may have been a small step for Neil but it's a giant step for me".
That's probably wrong and I should have paid more attention.

Didn't the helmets have a patch of textured material/space sandpaper they could rub their nose on?

More than close enough TheEdge. Apparently a bit of Velcro was strategically placed in a prominent part of the helmet like the water tube to rub their wee noses on. I guess something like that could send you loopy if you couldn't reach it.
