Correct, they are the three main proglacial lakes that formed in the UK during the last ice age. The most important of those was Lake Lapworth, located all over north Shropshire, Cheshire and beyond. When it burst the ensuing outburst flood cut Ironbridge Gorge, revealing all the ores, coal and resources that made the industrial advances there possible!

If you are ever interested in the insanity geography is capable of go look at similar proglacial lakes and outburst floods in North America...
