Well take my last list then. You've confirmed Indira Grand and Ian Paisley (Who I assume are my question marks), add them and I think that puts me in under the 4 missing rule from the question

Not if you choose to say "That's near enough, let's move on".

*sighs*

Well, someone else is obviously keen to move this on, and I guess I don't have much of a choice in it.

I'll give it to Stanier TheEdge. Here's the actual line up.

1. Ronald Reagan
2. Margaret Thatcher
3. Arthur Scargill & Ian McGregor
4. Ian Paisley
5. Leonid Brehznev
6. Robert Mugabe
7. Fidel Castro
8. Muammar Gaddafi
9. Yuri Andropov
10. Idi Amin
11. Erich Honecker
12. Old Hitler
13. Indira Gandhi
14. Ayatollah Khomeini
15. P. W. Botha
16. Konstantin Chernenko
17. Death

It's an amazingly powerful and moving statement, and it's incredibly emotive. After all the choked-up hatred and sadness, depression and angst following the miners' strike and dictatorships in other countries, Cuba and the Cold War... it's an amazing sentiment, and it's really well done too. They approached Sting to see if he would let them use the tune - and he offered to sing it too.

And the thing is, it's still relevant today. Just change the names. It's still the same. We have world leaders taking jobs and making bombs. There are fewer 'Irish wakes' nowadays, but there are migrant wakes. And think of the thousands and thousands of hearts that have been broken.

For anyone who hasn't watched the video yet, whether guest or member, I recommend that you do. It is incredibly powerful and, for anyone who was watching in the 1980s when this came on, it must have left an indelible memory with them.

TheEdge has the floor.

I didn't mean to sound pushy and I wasn't criticising it's just that these sorts of questions can lead to stagnation and we wouldn't want you turning into an aircraft carrier would we?

*raises hand*

I never answered this quiz round - except to point out an error made by backontrack. I am afraid it was rather difficult for me to get the faces

Don't worry about it, I get your point.

At least it's better than:

1. Newhaven Marine
2. Newhaven Marine
3. Newhaven Marine
4. Newhaven Marine
5. Newhaven Marine
6. Newhaven Marine

...and so on and so forth.

I'll start semi-cryptically and give clues if wanted.

When did the British attack an American when looking for another Brit?

Was it the American owned but British chatered SS Torrey Canyon which was bombed by the FAA and RAF?

Not but you are in the right county. ;)

Clue o'clock.

Identities may have been altered in the answer

Request clarification:- Are we talking about a situation in wartime or during a period of armed combat operations?

No. Last clue for a while. I'm thinking of a combat event that occurred after 1945. And, again, the nationalities might be a red herring to the answer. Think a bit laterally.

Next clue. Despite searching the second "Brit" was never found.

Not but very very close. Remember my nationality red herring clue. Lateral thinking...
