Not an appeal for any mariners who might have seen debris from MH370, given that had gone down a few months earlier. Maybe.

No - not in the North Sea

Was it a list of names of those who had died in some tragedy?

No

An appeal for a missing ship?

Surprisingly, you got it... A yacht called the Equinox was reported Overdue and Unaccounted For. The family tried calling the yachtsman on his mobile but that did not work. Attempts to contact him via radio proved not to be a success, so HM Coastguard asked Radio 4 to put out an appeal prior to the shipping forecast on both FM and LW frequencies for all ships on passage in the North Sea to be on the look out for the yacht - giving out its sail number. Luckily, the yachtsman was found safe and well...

The floor belongs to backontrack if he wants it

They cancelled Sailing By for that, have the BBC no sense of priorities? I wonder if they received an angry letter from "Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells".

...two of the above are incorrect, and two others are wrongly placed. But a fine effort indeed.

CLUE: Three of them have been leaders of the USSR.

Right, second question mark then is Konstantin Chernenko, possibly Erich Honecker between Pinochet and Amin. Not sure which are wrong, possibly Brezhnev and Scargill maybe

Brehznev and Scargill are correct. Chernenko is in it but not there. Honecker is in it; Pinochet is not.

Was TheEdge correct? You haven't replied to his attempt.

Galtieri is incorrect, as is John Smith. Indira Gandhi is one of the missing ones.

Do you have a definite list for the answer? The one I've identified as Pinochet/Galtierri looks an awful lot like both of them and is of the right time period for Splitting Image to be doing

I do indeed have a definite list, and I'm afraid that neither of those two appear.

Don't worry about the name placements - you just have to get the names right.

Be careful that you don't make people lose interest by being too picky.

OK - but all the names do have to be right.
