Nylon is the correct answer so you win the floor.

But Nylon is the answer for exactly the opposite reason than the one you stated. Nylon is the only word on the list that was not created as a shorthand for two words (ie a portmanteau).

Thanks... I was saying shorthand based on one of the stories as to how it got its name - New York and LONdon

No, my answer is based on all of them being portmanteaus but all except Nylon are made up of two real words. Nylon, depending on account, was either entirely made up or the PR department of DuPont mashing an untenable marketing phrase into a word.
