Yes. Mr C. Lomas, of Rhyl, was caught exceeding the newly introduced 30mph speed limit in built-up areas, in Penrhyn Bay, Llandudno. He later pleaded guilty to travelling at 60mph, and was fined £2.

A week later, local police used a speed trap to catch 17 RAC rally competitors speeding through the area. Within two weeks of the introduction of the speed limit, Llandudno had racked up 27 speed convictions, when the entirety of London had only managed 40!
