Had to dig deep into the memory for that one - at first I could only recall the piece they played! Pity no recording exists - these days it would be all over YouTube!

Who said this..?
"If you don't know the answer to that question, then I think you are an ostrich. Your head must be in the sand. Is your head in the sand? Are you flexible enough to get your head in the sand? My suspicion would be no."

Long shot, but has there ever been a cricket match played at Wembley itself...?

Quite possibly but the trick here is to differentiate between which venues have been used to play first class test games and those which may have been used for one off or short lived competitions like the 1981 Lambert & Butler County competition.

Double checking one of the venues I am going to declare HMS Ark Royal as correct. I'll explain why, the three he got right were Bramall Lane, The Oval and the County Grounds (Derby). The fourth venue I had in mind was Middlesex County Cricket Club's first home venue, Lillie Bridge Grounds. They played here from 1864 - 1867 however, the term 'first class cricket' was not officially defined by the MCC until 1895. Although before this date teams (inc Middlesex) were unofficially called first class teams. So officially no First Class matches took place at Lillie Bridge whereas each of the other venues hosted a first class test match on or after 1895.

So HMS Ark Royal it is your floor.

Thank you... I had some long forgotten memory from a match I saw long ago and I went with a gut feeling...

Well... Seeing as 48 hours have passed, I'll give you a clue:-

You would not expect a unit to do this in this day and age

An inspired guess, but it was right!

Which major sporting competition recently had a run of seven years for which the record books say there was no winner?

correct

A bit unfair that the runners up didn't get given the title I thought.

They can lay a claim to the title, but they've all decided to not...

When was the last time British soil was invaded? (NOTE: This question does not include any land taken as a result of the Falklands War or as a result of land lost in home waters in the channel islands)
