Yup. The Ark has RR engines and the others are RR engines. Apologies to the others who also got real close too but I wouldn't be able to confirm if any of those planes every touched down on the Ark

Rolls Royce Olympus gas turbines.

The answer is invalid as HMS Ark Royal has been decommissioned and scrapped, therefore nothing powers her

I wish to lodge a formal protest as I gave the correct answer to the previous question and was told it was not correct...

The arbiter of decisions is made be the question poser. I could have lodged a complaint when I said the flags were "removed" but that answer was clearly deemed to be insufficient by the question poser.

However; its just a game, for fun. And possibly learning a bit on the way. FYI fractals are freaking awesome.

Given my user name, do you not think I would know almost anything about it?

Your answer wasn't correct.

Piano's being launched off the deck wasn't the link and that was something that was traditional for the Ark Royal and not really specifically related to the comedy legends. Your answer could easily have been interpreted as being the tradition and not the performance of Cook/Moore on the deck which was the precise answer. The fact they had more than one performance on the deck and what it was becomes irrelevant. Even my colleague was asked to be more specific.

It's a game, for fun. No doubt you will get another chance to set another question at some point.

Why is your name Ark Royal ? Is it because your an enthusiast/historian or ex crew or even in a Cadet unit called Ark Royal ?

Enthusiast of sorts... Always love the sea and take every chance to get out there

As for the user name, always had a soft spot for the Mighty Ark ever since my old man showed me the Sailor documentary from back in the 1970's when I was about 6/7

I did apologise for misleading you, there's little more I could have done.

Oops, nearly forgot it's my turn again:

In the TV comedy series "My Name is Earl" what is the common feature of all photographs of Earl Hickey? To pre-empt the pedants I mean apart from the fact that he's in them.

I am a lenient man, so I hereby punish you by making you spend 2 hours on a jampacked 153 in rush hour conditions

The photos used during the show or the promo photos ?

Gonna take a punt at them all being solo shots with no other cast members annnnnddddd the photos used in the show are all Jason Lee (as in genuine photos rather than posed/edited for the show)

Great show.

Great show.

I mean photos taken as part of the storyline, not promotional nor screenshots. It was a sort of running joke.

Would you be referring to the situation in Guatamala/Belize when two of 809's finest were intercepted by units of the Florida Air National Guard?
If so this isn't general knowledge, it's specialised "Ï'm a cleverer bloke than you are" knowledge.
"Phoenix Squadron" refers.
:):) I am with you Phil.
I do follow this quiz but it has seemed to have become focussed on details outside my general knowledge.
Perhaps I must get out more:)

I edited as you were replying.
I think the Endurance was the first warship ordered to the South Atlantic after the invasion.

B****r, she was sent from the Falklands to S Georgia.
A sub, the Splendid was sent early on too.

Bingo... Splendid got her orders after the other two did making her the last one so far!

The watch is yours, sir
