If we discount some earlier incompletely-documented attempts at skin grafts, I think this may have been a cornea transplant by the ophthalmologist Eduard Zirm in 1905. This took place in Olomouc, which is now in the Czech Republic.

Having been satisfied of the cornea being confirmed as an organ by your good self, which was one of the two options I had noted, I therefore awarded the win to Springs Branch for his posting # 4926.

The other option that I had in mind was that of a kidney transplant that was performed in 1956 by Doctor Richard Lawley in Chicago.

If the question was looking for the first transplant of a visceral organ, were you thinking of Voronoy's kidney transplant from a cadaver carried out in Kherson, Ukraine (then part of the USSR) in April 1933? I have to declare a special interest in this subject, having read history of medicine at Cambridge many years ago.
