Just gave the answer on the off chance that giving half the answer wouldn't count.

Proving it is actually quite simple if you have a knowledge of trigonometry in the complex plane.
Euler's Formula states that e^(ix)=cosx + isinx
For pi, we have e^(i.pi)=cos(pi) + isin(pi) = -1 +i(0)
e^(i.pi) = -1
e^(i.pi)+1 = 0.
