That wasn't what I was thinking of but you are on the right lines. The answer is much closer to home. If there is a player who scored goals on separate days in the same match in the world cup in Brasil then you will have a correct answer (As long as they were scored on separate days in Brasil and not televised on separate days elsewhere). That would render my question void to be honest. Ha ha. . The player I was thinking of definitely scored on two separate days in the same match. Think club competition not Internationals.

What is the rule on how long a question stands without an answer? If no one can get it then I will give you the answer and declare open floor. If someone can provide an alternative answer then I apologise for the question.

It isn't a trick question, the game wasn't stopped and then re started on a different day. Buttsy was on the right lines with the going past midnight comment. And it was different days where the same game was played, not televised. My user name may give a clue.

Alas no. Fowler did wear number 9 for Liverpool though. It is a former Liverpool player you are after. The player in question was playing for Liverpool at the time he scored two goals on two days.

I don't think the rules cover this but the important thing is to keep the thread alive, either keep providing hints until someone gets the answer or if you think no one is going to get it, give the answer and then either declare open floor or set another question.

Correct. Apologies for the late reply. Have been on a late shift and just got home. No internet in work and strictly no phones out. Smicer scored in the 56 minute of the 2005 European cup final against AC Milan which kicked off at 21:45 in Istanbul. He then scored our last penalty after midnight following which Jerzy Dudek saved Shevchenkos penalty winning us the game and the competition.

I was gonna slowly add names. The others I had were blindly obvious. Loki was the Trickster. Hence the clue for DasLunatic.

I had just watched Dogma Eirk the Viking also a great film but a little dated. I gave that a go earlier this year but found it a little unwatchable :/

I don't suppose this is right but interestingly if you convert them to base 8 you get:

0 3 10 13

so the next two would be (base 8) 20 23 or (base 10) 16 19

Apart from 0, they are the dates of the birthdays of my brother, my sister and myself in order of increasing age, so the next one will be 13 - my mother's birthday. But I doubt this is the answer!

Looking at it mathematically, I guessed something to do with prime numbers. For any number in that sequence if you either add or subtract the previous number in the series, both the sum and the difference come out to be prime numbers. The next number after 11 which will give a prime for both sum and difference is 18 (18-11=7, 18+11=29).

So I would have said 18, until you mentioned no maths is involved!

I assume it's something like the order of numbers around the edge of a dartboard, or the times when the Shipping Forecast is due to be broadcast, but I can't work out what it might be.
