Which contemporary crime-writer, born in Brighton, has set a number of his novels in the Brighton and surrounding areas of Sussex?

It's always good to have questions which can't be solved by a simple Google search.

I'll take a guess this is in the style of Russian-born artist Wassily Kandinsky.
(OK, I did have to Google his christian name!)

What do/did Gary Player (golfer), Lev Yashin (Russian goalkeeper) and Johnny Cash (singer) all have in common?

If a question is answered correctly and accepted by the question setter, but then no new question is set within three days by the successful contestant, on expiry of this three day (seventy-two hour) period, the floor will open for any member to set a new question.

I will set a new conundrum, since time is passing by without one being set.

A large organized grouping of merceneries in 10th century Byzantium who fought for that area for the ruling Emperor had their ancestry in lands that were a great distance from there.

What was the name given to them in Byzantium and what was their ancestry.

Swedish / Scandinavian. ?

l cannot now do anything but award you the win as you have answered both parts of my conundrum correctly.....The Vikings were indeed a bloodthirsty lot ...

(There was a TV programme about how the Varangian Guard were used by Emperor Basil II as his "special forces")

Over now to you.

Oi! What about actually waiting 3 days before setting a new question? According to the rules I have until 15:32 on 18/05/15 to set a new question. 3 days from a Friday is Monday, not Sunday... <(

We were just covering our options in case the rules may have been referring to an Old Norse calendrial event....:roll:
