It's been a good few days without a bite, so I'll close this one off & move the thread along .........
Some regard the story as apocryphal, but Isaac Newton owned a dog called Diamond, which lived with him in his rooms at Cambridge.
One day while Newton was out, the dog allegedly knocked over a burning candle which set fire to manuscripts containing his notes on experiments conducted over the course of twenty years.
