Which rock band has had three members all with the same surname but only two of whom were related? The unrelated member then breaking off to form his own version of the band.

Looks like it's time for a clue. The band in question was well known for having twin lead guitars.

Yes the band still exists and they originated in the south west of England. I should correct one statement in the original question - it was one of the related pair who broke away to form his own version of the band.
