Culloden is the battle but I am unsure if Thomas Coram is the sea captain that you referred to, so I will have a further thought upon the matter, before referring to the Old Testament and its heroes.
The Battle was Culloden.
The Jacobites fought at Culloden.
Jacob is the OT patriarch.
According to Genesis, Jacob had a dream [Jacob's Ladder], of the coming Messiah.
The sea Captain Thomas Coram founded a Hospital for abandoned children in London [Foundling Hospital], and Handel gave the original copy of the Halleluiah Chorus from his work "The Messiah" to further its funds.
If this answer is anything near correct, please award the point to Paul, as he started my train of thought.

Clutching somewhat at straws here, but Handel's Culloden was written to celebrate the victory of the Duke of Cumberland and there was another piece of his music called Judas Maccabeus that was the bone of contention at a certain recent musical event where that piece was not played in preference to the Culloden piece.

3 miles out from the coast, as this is the coastal limit of GB and so, once you're underneath the water, it is actually quite low.

Frank Farian is correct.....but Boney M were definitely a group who could and did sing in live venues and on their records.
Hint about the group...Imagine an infant suffering from arithmetical amnesia and you will deduce from this one of their so-called chart songs.

I know there was a "to do" between the group and Frank over something but just guessed it was about who sung the songs. Now I've had a think I'm going to guess Milli Vanilli as they didn't utter a word on their records.
