The chicken is female and the egg male, so obviously the egg came first 
I reckon that the actual animal came first but over time and evolution it was eventually the case of the predecessor of the chicken to build a defence to its young from predators so that the womb solidified around the unborn chicken which then eventually became its shell and has been that way ever since.
Ill go with Buttsys answer though
The egg - its quite common to have eggs with breakfast, but, unless its the only thing in the house, its not considered normal to have chicken for breakfast, therefore the egg must come first

I think it would have to be the person who delivered it too set, or if it was delivered by lorry whoever drove it off the lorry.
