Alfred Noble (sic) was one of the best cricketing all-rounders to play for Australia at the turn of the 20th century. His highest score in England was in the Sussex v Australia match at Hove in 1899, when he scored 284 and helped to create a world-record partnership at that time of 428 for the 6th wicket.

The original plan that was never implemented was the Septemberprogramm which was replaced by a modified Schlieffen Plan and the person that I feel was the prime mover in the Imperial German Army in replacing the original plan was Helmuth Johann Ludwig Moltke.

Formally in 1268 (Treaty of Perth) but in fact after the battle of Ronaldsway in 1275. I plump for the latter.
