Thank you... sticking with the mention of Loch Ness....

The famous naturalist Sir Peter Scott gave Nessie a Latin name.

This was Nessiteras rhombopteryx, which he said was: Greek for "Ness inhabitant with diamond-shaped fin".


...but what else did it mean?
I'd guess it has an analogous meaning to its use in "archaeopteryx" so I'll guess lizard?
