Cowley wins, ha ha, his floor. Many apologies for the late reply. A lady I am very fond of was on the phone when I posted the question. Not much of an excuse when Cowley posted 2 mins after I set the question.
I could be taking the question totally the wrong way but, assuming you mean the first actor to portray James Bond. That honour falls to Barry Nelson in a television adaptation of Casino Royale in 1954.
Interestingly most think that the first actor to portray Commander Bond in the official film series (starting with Dr No in 1962) was Sean Connery. This is incorrect, as the film starts with the now famous 'Gun barrel sequence' and the man portraying Bond in thks sequence for Dr No, From Russia with love and Goldfinger was Bob Simmons, before the sequence was re-shot with Connery for Thunderball.
