A total guess - did the Vikings found the first church on the site of what is now York Minster?
In the final battle before the Norman invasion, the forces of King Harold defeated the invading forces of Hardrada, the King of Norway and also those of Tostig from Northumbria at a battleground near to York before marching south the face the Norman invaders who were in possession of a consecrated Papal banner given to William by Pope Alexander III.
Thinking back to very early times, when Christianity was not fully established in Norway and without any formalised bishoprics, would there have been the fact that York had the responsibility for the governance of Norwegian areas?
(Sorry for my earlier far too tenuous attempt at linking York and Norway)
I seem to recall that York is linked with St Olaf, Norway's patron saint. I know the Minster is dedicated to St Peter, but is there another church nearby dedicated to St Olaf?

Well there's at least one person it didn't stup!
Would you care to explain for others how you got it, before taking the floor?
Anything to do with the song "Down in Mississippi"?
Was Rod staying in a hotel in Mississippi, when he had a nightmare involving him performing a gig when a rather large snake found it's way into his jeans?
