Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. The Tories did not win the election, which is why they're having to bend over for Arlene Foster.

It may surprise you to know but elections aren't decided on Twitter and Facebook.

Reading all the SJW's bleating that they can't understand why Corbyn isn't PM as he clearly won just shows them for what they are - stupid.

Eh?

If you do not have a majority you have not won an election. If your opponent does not have a majority then you have not lost an election.

The Conservatives had a majority. The Conservatives now do not have a majority. They didn't win.

They didn't. With this post and some of your others, i'm not sure you understand the process.

Indeed. Over 50% of seats are needed for a party to win - that's 326 seats. Just being the largest party or getting the most votes is irrelevant - it's like trying to claim England won the football match against Scotland at the weekend due to the amount of possession or the number of shots on target.

There are now voices in Belgium in newspapers (that came from the Observer) that Theresa May did the elections on advice of Jean-Claude Juncker. How believable is that?

The same person who was very happy with the Richmond Park by-election result?

I know technically they can't be called the winners but as they are the incumbent Govt. they get the first chance to form a govt.
As they got 56 seats more than Corbyn and a bigger percentage of the vote why is the internet awash with rubbish about labour really winning from the usual suspects.

Belfast is not beautiful, I have lived just outside and worked there and beautiful is not a description I would use.

Belfast city at least gets tourists now. If the streets became less peaceful then Belfast Airport might be used by an increasing number of people visiting the region but who avoid going in to the city of Belfast.

It's all the horrendous violent paintings on houses that make it look like so bad.

A lot of which have been removed/replaced over the course of the last few years - "Loyalist Sandy Row" being the most notable.

Because it always feels better to score the equaliser in the score draw, rather than be the one to concede?

I never said Labour won. I said the Tories didn't.

Although the murals, and the peace walls, are a big part of the tourist crawl these days. It felt weird for me to go round the murals in an open-top bus, I have to say.

Who wants to live in a place where at the end of the street you have a house with "Victory to the IRA" alongside masked gunmen.

Interesting to see whether Theresa May gets blackmailed by the DUP to cling on to power.

Who wants a government propped up by a party that is supported by terrorism?

Interestingly, talks between the DUP and Conservative party are said to still be underway. The ink hasn't been signed on the deal. Could there be one more surprise from this election?

Just been announced as a BBC Breaking News alert - Queen's Speech to be delayed by 'a few days'.

Edit: General election: Queen's Speech delayed
The Queen's Speech - in which the government sets out its legislative programme - has been delayed for a few days, the BBC understands.
It had been due to take place on Monday 19 June.
The delay comes as the Conservatives negotiate with the Democratic Unionist Party to get support for their minority government.
Theresa May will face questions later from her backbenchers after losing her majority at last week's election.
The MPs are expected to raise concerns about her leadership style, and press for more details on talks with the DUP.
Mrs May's new cabinet will also meet for the first time after a reshuffle.
Brexit Secretary David Davis predicted some parts of the Tory manifesto would now have to be "pruned".

Is it possible that when Theresa May was told she'd need propping up by the Orangemen she thought it'd be Trump and his cronies?

David Coburn is going to run to be leader of the Kippers, unless of course Nigel Christ has another resurrection. Why is David Coburn running? "To stop the loonies".

Ok about the Queens Speech.

But that there is a revolt in the Conservative party about Theresa May's "deal" with the DUP is an open door?!

I suppose we'll have to get used to Northern Ireland reverting to the Bad Old Days; with May having scrapped the Anglo-Irish Agreement and her administration no longer being able to act as an unbiased mediator at tormont, we can expect Sinn Fein to abandon the Executive and, if the worst happens, we might see a restoration of the Provos. Strong and stable?

I did like John Oliver's take on the election. If you're able to access it it's worth it. "Thatcher in the Rye" being a highlight!

While its very fun to mock the Tories on their current situation, I think people on this site and outside are getting a bit carried away. DUP wont risk putting Corbyn in Downing Street as he is an ally of Sinn Finn and frankly I doubt the nationalist have the stomach to fight another war. The likelihood is they will be bought off. The SDLP would probably be happy with some seats in the House of Lords. Maybe Foster would agree to resign in return for a peerage (a job for life) and a cushy position. The noise comming from Dublin about neutrality in the peace process is much more about figures within the ruling party trying to force their own party to rule out a future deal with Sinn Finn after the next Republic of Ireland election. The Lib Dems won't try to bring down the government anytime soon because hey can squeeze conncessions from them, they will abstain if the vote is too tight. The government is fairly safe with 327 out of 642 (650 members minus the speaker and Sinn Finn). The government should be solid until the next budget which is scheduled for November but could be delayed to as late as March. The Queens speach wont need to be big either because Brexit and HS2 phase 2a will fill a large chunk of parliaments time.

If anyone fancies seeing Belfast, which is a beautiful city, it's probably worth going soon.

Same comment for if anyone wants to go for Ireland, Ireland will probably get us Brits banned from coming in, if this war materialises, after Brexit.
