Based on all of the above it certainly seems the gauging engineers are going to have a lot of fun gauging a new train to the UK over so many routes. This will not be a five minute job. The power pack bit of the bi-mode trains is novel for us, but having walked through similar in Switzerland it's no big deal.
Once the dust settles it will be interesting to see who are the 'winners' and 'losers' in all this. The elimination of first class on all but the Norwich services is interesting, but not without precedent. Just how the faster Norwich trains will fit in the timetable without causing too much damage to other services is challenging though.
