Good afternoon,

So here's another one of my cheap Ryanair Flights booked for the 6th - 8th March   , i recently did Warsaw this month.

I've a few questions :

The 50PLN ticket that is mentioned on https://mzkzg.org/bilety-jednorazowe-i-czasowe, where does this cover and is there a link to a map to see stations etc involved? I'm aware it covers the trams/trolleybuses/buses in Gdansk and Sopot and Gydnia. But which trains can be used just the yellow and blue ones or POLREGIO as well?

HEL : I understand i will need additional ticket for here

What units/carriages are used to go here? I may do this on the Sunday evening for a ride out - if it's what i've seen on youtube - loco hauled coaching stock

Thanks in Advance

Dzien dobry! (thats good day in PL!)
I just clicked on the link, used google transl to /en/ and it showed very clearly;
valid 72 hrs, on the 2 citysystems you mention (note Gdansk has some very fine new tramlines in western suburbia, Gdynia has an extensive trolleybus system=those buses under the wires), also MZK Wejherowo (another town more west), all SKM (=yellow+blue trains), these run very frequently Gd-Gd and less frequently on to Wejh. And PolRegio (NOT PKP=long distance!!) over those same stretches. Buy it from the counters in the tunnel under the main station-at airport there is only a ticket machine at an unstaffed halt, which probably will not stock this. Perhaps there is a more knowledgeable tourist office open.
If you are in workers nostalgia_ visit the shipyards where the uprising by a certain mr. Lech Walensa once started.
Note that if you are senior (>70) local transit (never trains though) may be free anyway-but double check if its for only Polski, EU or anyone with ID).
Now in winter I think to Hel its only those railbuses, but not sure. Loco-hauled is only summertime and then not all trains. There is also a fairly frequent BUS;line from Gdynia along this peninsula if trains do not have convenient timings.

I'm not over 70 unfortunately, but thanks for the comments @dutchflyer - my intention was to use BOLT taxi from the airport to my hotel in the old town, and then purchase the transport ticket when going out on Sunday afternoon - my flight arrives at 1210 and I leave Tuesday at 1605. Bargain price of £11 for Ryanair.

There is no locos that is valid on currently. Usual move off season is to get a Gdansk-Rumia PKP IC weekly season for about £15 to do roarers and the odd square for the day.

How do you obtain a season ticket?

It is accepted within the area bounded by the following stations: Luzino, Cieplewo, Reda Rekowo and Borkowo. Travel to Babi Dół is also allowed in the direction of Kościerzyny (Source). Any train number beginning with R is a PolRegio service, there are multiple liveries.

These services are usually formed of a railbus (or multiple railbuses coupled together). portalpasazera.pl will show whether a train is being operated by a railbus on the day of departure. If it doesn't say, it's possibly loco hauled. Some services have a regular carriage sandwiched in between two railbuses.

(edits made to make wording clearer)

So any of the stations shown on the map travelled is allowed to then?

Okay great, so do you have to have a photo or anything and how do you make reservations? I could buy this just to travel and use the faster trains by PKP etc.
No photo it’s just a pdf valid with ID. Would need reservations if they are currently compulsory (not sure it so) but they are only pennies anyway and book on same site.

I went to the area 3 years ago and also visited Hel as well (not just to say I've been to Hel and back, but also to see the lighthouse and the seal sanctuary there).

We used the ticket below - which effectively is more or less everything except PKP long distance trains.
24-hour rail and municipal of all organizers (paper or mobile)
- applies on SKM and POLREGIO Trains* and on ZTM Gdańsk and ZKM Gdynia and MZK Wejherowo trams, trolleybuses and buses (*- within stretches which end at stations: Babi Dół, Cieplewo, Luzino and Reda Rekowo)
25 zł

50zł sounds like a good deal for a 3 day ticket (£3.30 per day). These tickets were NOT available at the 2 ticket machines in the passageway under Gdansk Gl. nor from the staffed kiosk at one end (they just sell city tickets). I actually bought the above tickets from the ticket hall of the main station, which was (at the time) heavily under reconstruction. The ticket office staff spoke English (and German) but don't rely on it, many PKP staff do not. The tickets in 2019 were not available on the phone but may be now.

The train to Hel(l) was a modern DMU and you have the weird sensation when halfway down the peninsula (depending on tree cover) of being able to see the beach from both sides. On a sunny day, it's a very pleasant trip and there are multiple places to eat or have a drink there. You could catch a boat back to Gdansk if you felt so inclined, but it's not for the weak of stomach.

I'm going to purchase the ticket on my phone I think - unless there is an option to buy it at the Gdansk Airport station. I have looked at going to Hel, but theres no boats that run in March so will be a train there and back.

The train station at the airport has a fairly comprehensive ticket machine, but I am not sure if it does the 50 zl ticket. A word of warning, there's little or no facilities at the train station, which is reached by a footbridge from the airport.

This should authorise travel from the airport. You can check with the conductor - if it isn't, they can sell you a new ticket. A single to the main station should be around 7.80zl.

Gdansk airport station is not equipped with ticket vending machines capable of selling metropolitan tickets, according to MZKZG.
