I know there are a few people on here who have connections or volunteer with the GCR so was just wondering if they have sorted out what diesel locos will be working what days as the website shows the 1215 and 1415 ex LOU booked for a diesel every Sat and Sun until October time, just wondering if they will be advertising the traction in advance?

pah! why not just try visiting the GCR Northern for once? ;) we have a decent range of diesels at the moment. Fair enough, we are not as big, but that's cos we haven't been going nearly as long. Hopefully not too long before we can open a station at Loughborough Jn and build a bridge to the GCR :)

Saturday diesel running days would be a start, makes it pretty hard to visit without those...

good point, we only run saturday diesels on galas, next one being 14th/15th june (see forum meets), I have been saying we need to. The slight problem is though, on certain saturdays, First GBRf use the line up to Rushcliffe Halt for the British Gypsum factory, and on that bit of the line (bar the loop there) is one engine in steam worked.

37412, the locos for the GCR diesel diagram are drawn up on a monthly loco roster for any available loco. I believe 37314 will be on the roster in due course.

Go with preserved diesels, I've never known it to be wrong.

Note though that for the next two weekends there will probably be no diesels running bar the DMU with Oliver Cromwell running in their place. If 70013 is not available expect the peak.

Will the roster be in public domain soon though as i am presuming there is a diesel in use every Saturday now (Starting next sat), so it would be helpful if the GCR could pass the info on the diesels working onto sites like Pres-Diesels. I am not moaning, just wanting info so I can support Diesel preservation by turning up :)

I know it is normally pretty good but doesn't show anything after April 27th which was last Sunday.....

What is it with the resurrection of dead threads? It's a seriously uncool thing to do, especially for your fist ever post. 2 years and 6 months [facepalm]

That's a bit harsh isn't it ? Personally I think we should be welcoming new members to this forum.

Especially as when you search the last post date is far from obvious.
Think GCR will never attract cranks apart from the very local in its current format - I'm low on 25035 this year but for one trip the time, effort and expense to get there just cannot be justified.

Two trips for 2011 please
