Just on a coach back to Thirsk, service 1N94 having forgotten to call there.
I have to say he or she chose a good time to overshoot given there was a rail replacement bus already running to Thirsk! But it wasn't meant for us originally! Maybe causing some ECML disruption too as the guard had to meet us outside the train, thus blocking the down line at Northallerton for a good few minutes. All in all, an enjoyable farce!

I wonder how common such occurrences are and I do hope the driver isn't in too much trouble.

We're all human so I hope he/she gets a cup of tea and no more than that.

How far before Thirsk do trims go onto the slow lines. Surely the decrease in speed and changing lines would me you realise a station is coming up. Saying that the driver isn't the first or the last to do this. Everyone's human at the end of the day

Not far before but the train had already been on the slow line since tollerton junction because of a T3/possession on the fast according to opentraintimes .

There is engineering works at the moment so maybe it's something to do with that

A couple of GC services have been booked to not call at Thirsk today, including what looks like the Up service that formed 1N94 for the Down

It's one of the most gut wrenching things for a driver to do that, I've done it a few times, once at 15 mph!

For some reason it just didn't register, even though I'd crossed everything up to that point on the sheet off and I saw it as the next call and instead of stopping I went trundling through. Had the walk of shame and had an interview with two managers who couldn't understand how I'd done it done everything right according to policy, I couldn't understand how I'd done it either.

Looking back I think it was a case I was slowing for the call and because I was on a different line from normal, when my train hit the track circuit in the platform and the signal cleared I just put the power in rather than stop! Duh!

So I like many drivers have been there, done that & got the T-shirt!

I remember a special Northern train running from Lime Street to Hooton and back via the Halton curve a couple of years ago to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Hooton - Helsby line. After shuttling back and forth a couple of times between the aforementioned stations, the train forgot to stop at Frodsham on its return to Liverpool much to the annoyance of those waiting on the platform.

And donkey's years ago, I also remember checking with the driver of the one train per week that used to stop at Godley East that he actually planned to do so. He wasn't going to do so as he thought it was closed until the conductor showed him a timetable.

There used to be only one direct service from Hull to Dewsbury: it wasn't unusual for there to be none and find yourself in Huddersfield when the driver forgot!

I reckon that the engineering work probably affected the driver's thought process, mind on watching what was happening on the fasts, half a mind on that they didn't stop there earlier.

Going back to the 80's now possibly very early 90's I was on class 101 or something very similar and the driver forgot to stop at Conwy en route to Bangor

Driver buzzed him he stopped in the tunnel just after the end of the platform.

Quick chat, three buzzes, reversed back to the platform.

On another occasion a driver on a 101 again, forgot to stop at Llandudno..... Unfortunately that is a terminus and all of us standing ready to get up ended up on the floor after giving the buffers a really good whack.

It actually happened a few years ago when it was GNER. The incident was that the train failed to stop at Durham, when it was supposed to do so. On that occasion, it wasn't driver error. In fact, he had been given the wrong data card, which showed him that he was to pass through non stop, when in fact he should've been given one showing him to make the station stop!

When I commuted from Bristol to Bath to school in the mid 1980s, I remember one morning noticing an emergency brake application and that the train (a class 33 on 5 mark 1s) was passing Keynsham, where we were booked to stop, at a fair speed. We eventually came to a fair stand with the back coach about 200 metres beyond. The driver promptly set the train back into the platform to rather puzzled looks from those waiting to board (with no obvious consultation with the he guard). I don't know whether this was permitted, but we hadn't passed a signal after the platform and the signal in the rear was some way back.

I remember one of the FNW loco-hauled farewell trains (on the normal service, not the farewell tour) almost not stopping at Rhyl - it did stop, but *well* beyond the bridge with the brakes fully on. I thought it was going to be a neat bit of German-style positive braking, but unfortunately not.
