Did they send you an email with interview questions after your online application? Or before you had your dmi?

No. If I remember correctly, the process went pretty much as follows:
1) Completion of online application form along with attachment of CV
2) E-mail inviting me to interview once venue for interview confirmed
3) Attended interview where the usual sort of questions were asked
4) Telephone call a few days later advising interview was successful and a job offer was pending subject to passing a medical
5) E-mail confirming medical appointment received
6) Attended and passed medical
7) Await start date (still waiting over two years later)!
Ohh woow, that’s much better than the process im going through, and im guessing that you already passed your assessments with another toc because gb rail look like they don’t do any assessments or send people off to the opc.

No worries! Sorry, I did fail to mention that I had already passed my psychometrics; the job ad did specify that I must have passed the psychometrics within the past five years, and it also said groundstaff experience was preferred but not necessary. Given that I was a shunter with my current employer at the time and that I had already passed the driver psychometrics for the shunter role (for automatic progression to trainee driver), GB were quite keen for me to get an application in (I had telephoned their HR department with a query relating to my CV and I ended up having a bit of a chat with them over the phone).

And thats also one of the questions they asked in the email, the dates you passed your psychometric tests and the centre/location

I hope so too, my passed assessments expire in 2024 -__-
2023 for me but luckily I’ve started a course now! It’s surprising how fast that five years start to elapse; when I passed mine back in 2018 I thought “plenty of time to start driving now”, but it soon goes! Hope you hear something soon.

It'll be a competancy-based interview, so yes, similar questions about your experience of handling different situations. Use the STAR method again.
They will also likely ask what you know about the company. Do some research, look through their website. Learn their core values etc.

I haven't applied to this, but I've interviewed for GBRf in the past.
Thank you. I think it will be quite strange being interviewed over Skype

Advert up again for Trainee Driver London, although it’s in the Groundstaff section, still shows that you must live within 60 mins of Crewe and must be able to start in April!! Copy and paste fail..

I find their website to be rather poor, it doesnt show them in chronological order. So you have to scroll all the way through the vacancies to see if they have added any. This wasn’t at the top, or in the right section, surprise surprise..
