3 A levels or equivalent... that's the first trainee driver job I've seen requiring that standard of education. I suppose it helps to keeps the number of applicants down

The link in the op worked about an hour ago when I looked and came up with trainee driver position, but has stopped working and doesn't appear in vacancies list.

There do seem to be a number of vacancies nationwide for drivers with Freight experience , ie QUALIFIED FREIGHT drivers at:

If you look at their ads for rail operators they use the term Train Manager (Driver) so I think the terms are synonymous. When I looked at the advert initially it said it had been posted 2 days ago, so maybe they have enough applicants

Don’t think they take on trainees I’m sure and may be corrected but don’t they have assistant train managers and train managers and assistant learn the ropes etc and go forwards on train driving

At GBRF a Train Manager is a driver and the old Assistant Train Manager grade is a shunter. The ATM grade is no longer available to new recruits instead they are now Rail Operators.

GB are desperate for drivers so have done away with the requirement of having had to be Internal and now advertise for external candidates where required.
