1. Does anyone know which 99 led 0Q98 Leicester - Peterborough yesterday between 99005 and 99006? An urgent request because it was the first move under its own power for whichever 99 led!

2. Does anyone know if 0Q98 actually went via Peterborough station? I have doubts considering these moves don't normally.

Yes I noticed a long while ago that the front number is frustratingly obscured by that lamp bracket.
At the time I was told never mind, the side number would be OK - but not from the angle in that photo, a common angle.
Minor detail really in the grand scheme of things.

It's 99 006; I can just about read the front lower side number on that picture.

Thank you very much to everyone who has answered that. Great to have the first moves on the UK mainline for 99005 and 99006 recorded. I haven't had time to check but as far as I know neither of them are on the move today, only 99004 going between Peterborough and Doncaster.

Technically, the southerly end loco should have powered off the depot, then the driver might have changed ends, unless another person led the southerly engine off the shed.

Does anyone know please what happened with 99006 working 0Q51 on Friday morning, especially what time it actually departed Peterborough and arrived at Doncaster? The schedule strangely shows no report the entire way, but 0Q50 definitely ran and 0Q52 definitely ran.

Network Rail have a centralised lurchasing contract wbich is hedged. All pay the same price. Snag is when electric goes free during strong wind conditions then Toc n Focs can't take part.

Presumably the hedging takes into account predictions of the periods when there's lots of renewables input. Obviously if it's hedged on an annual (or longer) basis then it will be a longer period until the effects of wholesale gas/oil prices feed through, but at least in the shorter term maybe it's possible that for TOCs diesel prices will rise more than electricity?

More light engine paths between Peterborough and Doncaster this week. No wagons or March yard involved this time and at the time of typing these must be worked by 99005 as it's the only 99 currently at Peterborough.

On Wednesday afternoon there are light engine paths along the MML for a 99 to work between Bedford and Loughborough via Humberstone Road.
