DRS 88s as well, they did some route learners back at the beginning of the year and under the wires the 88s used the electric supply rather than its engine

We must have seen each other.
Was it me or was the pan up? I couldn’t really see from my vantage point. But it was rather quiet if the engine was running..

Pan was up on 001 but down on 002. No idea if the engine in 002 was running although it had its cab lights on.

Picture from X but looks like 99001 is the first electric freight locomotive to utilise the OLE on the MML.

It's great to see - with these things out and about, people might even occasionally mistake the UK's freight operation for a proper modern European one.

I came across this video of tonight's test run at Wellingborough. Have to say the acceleration at the end of the video was very impressive
6MW pulling 800t (including itself) is a better power to weight ratio than a Class 170, for example.

Really interesting short (not mine) of the locos heading down light loco ahead of the test. This shows 99001 switching from diesel to electric whilst in motion. I'm assuming they've been given some sort of authorisation to do this.

Is Kettering the location of the video? - if so, might that be one of the places where moving changeovers are already allowed for the 810s?

0Q45 was delayed leaving Cardiff Pengam last night for some reason, even though 4Q45 arrived there 4 minutes early. 0Q48 Cardiff Canton - Cardiff Pengam hasn't yet departed.
They were pan up at Wellingborough yesterday, so I'd assume running on OHLE

If it helps, I've seen a video of 4Q45 departing Bristol Parkway last night and 99001 had the pantograph raised. From various videos I've seen it looks like where wires were available they were used.

For anyone after 4Q48 it's approaching Newport now. Will be interesting to see how much of the delay can be clawed back by the time it gets to Wellingborough yard.
