The ETS Voltage is different for the Mk.5 Sleepers, it could be changed / updated, but it would be expensive given the ETS Equipment on a 57 is located on the underframe rather than in the former boiler compartment where it is on the 47s (after 47556 before someone jumps in to say that!) (where it would be even harder to change).

So no, it's not a 'simple change' for the 57s to be able to haul and ETS supply the sleepers.
Fair enough "Nym". Thanks

73s ETH runs at 900v rather than 800v to lower the current draw as the demand from 8 coaches on ths Inverness and even the fort william with 6 sometimes is so high. There's nothing else diesel with the same ETH index and voltage that I'm aware of.

Have I missed something or has this thread diverted onto the Down Speculative Line? As I understood it these locos are mainly to replace the 47s on stock movements and on RHTT work, nothing that I've seen mentioned sleeper work at all, although I realise that may be down to my missing the relevant info

You are correct. They will work the RHTT Anglia circuit (based out of Broxbourne I believe) and then join the stock movement fleet based at Beale Street when not on RHTT duties.
