Been used by gbrf for tube stock moves for a while now.

yes - it's one of no less than nine class 20s which GB now has use of,
to work LUL 'S' stock moves and for RHTT (water cannon) work during
October and November...

I have to disagree with other posters on this thread and say that other than looking very shiny, I don’t think that the livery has anything going for it when adorning the sides of a class 20. The new GBRf livery looks superb on a 66, but it seems jarring when applied to the far more venerable lines of a 20. It’s a shame to see them painted out of their workmanlike triple grey livery.

It'll look even better when its paired with 20905 when its repaint is finished next week.

When they're coupled as a pair, they'll be coupled noses together- would look quite odd then if the yellow was at the noses. Like this, the livery will be coherent when paired up- it'll look a bit like the 66s

This is true, but they are not always guaranteed to work as a pair.

You'll hardly notice the livery when 20901 & 20905 have been working the RHTT trains.

It's amazing how a lick of paint can make something over 50 years old look, to the untrained eye, brand new! Look forward to these beasts on the S-Stock past my house in the near future

I know what you mean, it looks rather odd on a Class 20, it's a bit like painting a Class 33 into Large Logo Blue, it requires a bigger area to cover instead of being squashed.

That is either a very good model railway or a very misleading photo! Good photo. Though this area isn't best place for photograph feedback so best make it on topic! I really do think this livery suits the locos.

As for the livery, i have to admit that im still rather mixed about it - I think it looks rather nice on 20905, but looks wrong on 20901. I'd put it down to the fact that for some reason it doesn't look too bad with the old BR indicator box, but looks odd on the almost dinosauric looking 20901 - with the original BR Disk set up / lights.

Any pictures of the pair "square on" the side, rather than the usual 3/4 angle? That'll show the full effect of the livery better
