Are these Class 60 operated? If so, not only is it another lost contract from DBS but also another hit for the 'Super 60' fleet.

I appreciate that this may well be a stupid question but what does "hook and haul" mean, as per the press release?

It means that they just provide a loco and driver, whilst the other party provides the wagons (and path?).

The Immingham - Bedworth Murco service has run for years operated by DB Cargo. Is this the service going over to GB Railfreight?

This new service is for PUMA Energy a multinational whose website says they now own Bedworth, Theale and Westerleigh, as well as Milford Haven.

Mark says this is new traffic and I have no reason to doubt him, it certainly shows a different originating location on RTT at Immingham .

Presumably it is additional traffic.

I was confused yesterday going past Theale in the morning and there being a rake of Murcia ranks in the oil terminal with no 60 or even 66 around. This explains it. From looking at RTT, looks like the last DBC ran on Saturday full from Robeston then light engine back to Margam. Then part way through Monday a gbrf 66 ran light down from Wellingborough and took the empties to Immingham.

Although today it seems the standard early morning Robeston to Theale ran so is this now gbrf? Wonder if this change will push the 60s onto more stone work and push 66s elsewhere, certainly looked a 60 in Theale stone terminal last night in the dark.

I used to go on holiday down there in the 1960s and 1970s - the line was very busy then with Esso trains to Herbrandston (is that now the Puma plant?), very busy Gulf trains to Waterston and I think there was another rail-connected refinery too but cannot recall the name.

Many happy hours in Johnston and Clarbeston Road signal boxes watching the Hymek, Brush Type 4 and EE Type3-hauled trains going through. Hymeks pulled most of the passenger trains too though a few were DMU, and the overnight sleeper from Paddington (down to 3 or 4 coaches by the time it got to Johnston).

There was also a long mixed freight down to Milford down in the morning and back in the evening, often with fish vans, plus 2 big mixed box wagon freights out of Haverfordwest yard going east in the evening, usually hauled by Type 3s.

The Fishguard line came to life around lunchtime with Paddington boat train, Freightliner and Irish meat train in quick succession. Great days.
