Just for the record, Scotrail and Transport for Wales are not "already nationalised" in a railway sense, separate from DfT TOCs.
They are still subject to the UK-wide 1993 Railways Act which set up franchising and regulated their periodic re-letting.
Until this is replaced by GBR legislation, the general terms for TOCs still apply to them.
They essentially had an DfT opt-out from reletting to the private sector, and this was confirmed in Louise Haigh's legislation forcing public sector operation of DfT TOCs.
But there are many provisions from the 1993 legislation which still apply to all TOCs (eg ORR regulation), until replaced by as yet unpublished GBR legislation.
This is one reason why GBR cannot be established formally until that legislation is passed.
On top of that, Scotland has considerably more autonomy from Westminster over its railways than does Wales.
Merseyrail, London Overground and Elizabeth Line are also in the Railways Act mix somewhere, with different degrees of autonomy from DfT.

Not necessarily stock, but I spotted this sign at Vauxhall today, BR really does appear to be back! (And just to complete the BR feel, I post this whilst onboard a very loud 455! )

That sign is so old , British rail never left !
Tfl still have a lot of ancient signage around their network that they never updated since br left. There are even some signs at Harrow on the hill from the 60's

If you are interested I recommend looking at this thread:Thread on the matter of old signage

Looks like they knew all along this day would come and didn't bother taking it down ;)
Interesting though that, although it's not new like I thought, it's still pretty funny that the sign has outlived privatisation!

It does if you treat the white as representing Wales.
For centuries, the English flag represented the legal entity "England and Wales" - Scotland being a separate jurisdiction.
The heir to the throne is always the Prince of Wales, of course.
The red cross in a white ground is the cross of St George, who was chosen by the Tudors - who were, of course, Welsh - for the newly-unified kingdom of England-&-Wales - it was the Tudors who gave the Welsh the same rights as Englishmen. Both England and Wales already had their own native-born saints - St Edmund (as in Bury St Edmunds) and of course St David. Over time the English have dropped st Edmund in favour of St George, whilst the Welsh have stuck with St David.

No one has ever seen a real dragon - this is because they are good at camouflage. That's why you can't see the Welsh red dragon sitting in the middle of the Union Flag.

As for BA, they did make a short lived attempt to rebrand with their World Images brand in the 90s . The flag soon returned is as solid a brand as their can be.
Not exactly.

The current tail fin design was one of and part of the Utopia scheme of world images, known specifically as Chatham Dockyard and applied to Concorde aircraft.

It was therefore there from the beginning, but became the only design following Sir Bob Ayling’s ‘review.’

The review followed Margaret Thatcher’s handkerchief drape in legend, but in reality also significant pressure from IATA/ICAO as a result of ground movement identification issues.

It’s a long time ago and memories fade but I have to say what they retained is still great branding, and so simple

Apologies if this is the wrong thread, but does anybody know whether 701046 still carries the GBR branding? Have been unable to find any allocations for it on RTT so not even sure if it's moved since the first few days post-nationalisation.

Marylebone has one just below the escalators too - you can see on the platform where they've put 'National Rail' stickers on them (Ofc Marylebone is more known for the NSE branding on the ticket hall still and this has been brought up already!). I know there are threads on here regarding the topic but it is very funny how there's so much signage which will 'outlast' privatisation!

So, less than a month until C2C. Do we think it'll get a 701046-like rebranded unit before a full rebrand, or do we think we'll start to see GBR actually being rolled out? C2C's performance is pretty good, so I feel like they could be 'worthy' of GBR's name.

I think the "worthy of GBR's name" was just a whole lot of faff said to delay the application of whatever the new GBR livery will be to when everything has been nationalised.

Personally i don't see them doing a thing on a new livery for any unit of any class before then , Maybe a few Stickers on one of each operators newest/fanciest units when the operator is nationalised (eg: one of c2c's 720s having similar done as the stickers applied to 701046) but that's all i could see happening until all operators have been reorganised into GBR.

701046 was hors de combat for some reason from 29th May to 9th June (maybe removal of the stickers?) but according to RTT it has been in use every weekday since June 10th, except June 18th, working various diagrams: 1 (twice), 2, 6 (twice), 8, 12 and 14. It was also in use on Saturday June 14th.

According to RTT, as I write this, it is at platform 3 at Waterloo, about to form 2j13, the 0806 to Hampton Court (Diagram 2)

Probably, though I feel like we'd see a rebrand before then - after all, if it was waiting until everything's been renationalised, why wouldn't they just say 'the full livery will come when GBR is properly set up in 2027'? That's straightforward and not likely to draw any negative press, so I don't see why they wouldn't. I somewhat expected SE would get it, with the latest 'track and train united under one guiding mind' update, but no such luck.

Not GBR branded but I’m on 700026 and some of the First Class stickers seem to be in RA2. Weird. Not all of them, though - there’s one with the old font.

It’s not RA2, presumably just a replacement sticker that’s been designed since the previous iteration.
