First time posting...

I need to go from Gatwick to back home to Stansted Mountfitchet - I've got an annual season ticket on a Greater Anglia smart (ITSO) card including Zone 1-6.

I believe buying a single Gatwick - Boundary Zone 6 ticket is going to be the best way to do this but will the staff at Gatwick station be able to sell me this, and will the ticket inspectors on the Gatwick Express be able to read my season ticket on a smart card?

Welcome to the forum.

It's doubtful whether the staff at Victoria barrier line to the Gatwick Express platforms will be able to read your smart card so they will have to take your word for it. It is not your fault if they don't have the equipment to read your smart card which is valid for the journey you wish to make. I would not expect a hassle free journey given some of the issues that have been reported on this forum about the Gatwick Express gateline staff.

You could always get a Southern branded train which is only a minute or two slower (and often quicker!)

Smart cards are best avoided for precisely this sort for reason.

Thanks. Yes, smart cards are far from perfect, but on the whole it's easier than having to replace paper tickets every few months due to wear. Looks like I'll be getting a Southern train instead.
Will the ticket office staff/ticket machines be able to sell me a ticket to the Zone 6 Boundary? I've never asked for one before, so I don't know how routine this is.

Yes, any ticket office will be able to issue a boundary Zone fare. I’d suggest getting it at Stansted Mountfitchet if the ticket office is open.

By all means try the Gatwick Express, it’d Be good to know what happens.
