Gatwick to London (does not involve Gatwick Express!)

TBH, all I'm looking for these days is the FCC only marker, esp on seasons. If I find one on my train the pass has to buy a new ticket as they know what they are doing. You find a few on the Southern trains that run from London Bridge. Why? Because they start from London Bridge, so the passenger has time to find a seat, rather than battle through the others on an FCC coming through the core. The passenger with a FCC only season on a southern, knows what they are doing is not allowed, they have saved money by buying a cheaper ticket with restrictions, so have to live by them.
Its all a bit different to the non Uk tourists who have bought a FCC only ticket on the plane, or from the machines at Gatwick where the FCC only option comes up first when you ask for a ticket to East croydon, and then pile onto a train at Gatwick as its going to East Croydon. Trying to explain to a group of euro teens that their ticket is not valid :-?


Anyway, in a couple of years, will it matter anyway when we are one big 'happy' family.

The sad thing about your comment re: being one big 'happy' family is that there will no longer be any competition - and hence all the good value fares will suddenly evaporate so the cost of travel will rocket Having 2 operators at least means there is always a cheaper option, even if it is more restricted...

There's over 70 fares from Gatwick to London at the moment when you include single/return/travelcard, first/standard, and all the routes. It's a veritable confusopoly.
