Gatwick to Euston

If I have a SVR Liverpool-Gatwick Airport (£77.30), am I allowed to use FCC to St Pancras and walk to Euston rather than faff around with the tube on the way back?

Yes, of course. It's actually a relatively quiet/easy walk if you avoid Euston Road. 10 mins max.

When you get through the barriers, look to your right and you will see the side exit. Take this exit, turn right, and then turn left along Brill Place.

if you go via Euston road, there's more walking to do, and a lot more pedestrians and traffic (and delays crossing roads).

I know the route well - I do it regularly for other journeys! My question was about the permissibility of using Thameslink as an alternative cross-London route to the Tube from the south but it seems you've answered that - thanks.

I think the quickest option for you (providing it's not a time when there are issues with access to Victoria station, e.g. peak hours) is probably Southern's Gatwick Express service to Victoria, then the Victoria line straight to Euston. However if the requirement is to avoid the deep level tube lines, then FCC is certainly a viable alternative. It's most definitely a valid cross-London transfer.

Isn't London - Liverpool permitted via Nottingham? You could go to St Pancras and jump on an EMT service to Nottingham/Sheffield to pick up the Liverpool service.

Fast is irrelevant as I'll have to wait an hour or two at Euston anyway for off-peak to kick in (it's a non-railcard ticket). Unless it's peeing down I'm quite happy walking from St Pancras. There's no need particularly to avoid deep level (I'm a regular on the Victoria line...), but the chance to avoid crowds and extra changes when I'm not in a hurry is very welcome.

Around 1730. I'm quite happy with the journey - there'll be plenty of seats on the train from Gatwick and plenty of time to get to Euston. No chance of getting there before peak starts though unfortunately. I usually have a railcard ticket so don't usually have to hang around for 7pm but don't mind this one time.
