Gatwick, Heathrow, and London in between

It’s been a while since I’ve been in London, and I’m trying to work out the cheapest option for my travel.

First bit, I fly into Gatwick and my hotel is by Peckham Rye. I’ll be travelling within London later that day, but probably not outside zone 2. I’m struggling to work out whether a not-Gatwick Express day Travelcard is cheaper than Contactless (doing the East Croydon shuffle) as I can’t work out what the Contactless would cap at. Next day I fly out from T5, and I’ll probably just take the Piccadilly Line.

Coming back I fly into T5 in the morning and then out of City Airport in the evening. I’m happy with Contactless as I’m guessing the Lizzie Line surcharge doesn’t apply to the travelcard cap?

Also, does anyone have any left luggage recommendations?

Even though the Elizabeth line has a surcharge to Heathrow the cap for a zone 1-6fare remains the same and the surcharge is included in the cap.
